Easy DIY Flashcards

This is probably the easiest project I've ever done! Seriously....it took just a few minutes. While I was at target I got these flashcards for $1.00. They are really great and there are 20 cards with pictures on both sides. For the rest of the project you will need a book ring and a hole punch. I used my crop a dile but you can use just a regular hole punch.

Punch a hole in the upper left corner of a card. Then you can use the first card as a template for the other cards so the holes are in the same spot. Once all the holes are punched put the cards on the book ring.

See....I told you it was easy!
Austin loves them so much we've gone through them countless times. He also wanted to do the flashcards instead of reading a book before bed :)

Toddler Fun

Austin loves to paint. He asks to paint every day. Sometimes he is content using water colors and printer paper but sometimes he asks to paint something bigger. When I was at Joanns he saw a little wooden birdhouse and asked if we could get it for him to paint. I used it to bribe him to be good for the rest of the day :) It was $1.00 at Joanns and I already had the sponge brush and the acrylic paint. You can get all of the supplies at Walmart or any other craft store. I also took an old t-shirt I had and I put it over him and tied it in the back so it wasn't falling off of him. Happy Painting.

DIY custom art

I love art. The only problem is it can get expensive. Especially if there is something you have in mind. I like the things I hang on my wall to mean something and to be enjoyed by everyone living in the space. That is why I decided to make my son's art for his room. I'm not much of an artist so I got crafty. I took one of my son's favorite books "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," and cut it up! Yes I know...cutting a book can be scary but I had more then one copy :) I used scrapbooking tape to adhere it to a piece of black 8 x 10 inch cardstock and framed it.

I got my frames 40% off at Joanns.
I will eventually hang these on the wall but the kiddos were sleeping so I'll have to do it later :)
You can frame an entire story or do a collage of a bunch of different books that match your kid's or even your bedroom or family room.
I think eventually I'll have a play room and I'm planning on doing a bunch of different books as art.

Shaving Cream Toodler Activity

I love great toddler activities. The only problem is a lot of them are really messy. I love this one because it is mess free. I got the idea HERE

What you will need:

Shaving Cream
Plastic Bag
Food Coloring
Something to mix it with

First add the shaving cream and the color of your choice to the bowl.

Then you need to mix it up. Add more color if needed.

I think this was Austin's favorite part. He loved mixing the shaving cream and the color together.

Then put it in a zip lock back and make sure all the extra air is out.

And there you have it! It is easy. After he was done finger painting in the bag I emptied the bag into the bowl again and put him in the bath tub with a pastry brush and the bowl of shaving cream. He loved Loved LOVED "painting" in the tub.

The Circus is in Town

This paper reminds me of the circus. I think it is so fun and colorful and energetic. Well I guess as energetic as paper can be. I used the thanks embossing folder again. It is actually my last one. I don't have any more of those. I borrowed a friends embossing folder and now I'm living far away and won't be able to borrow it anymore. I'll have to try to get a hold of my own. I haven't been able to find it in any stores so far but maybe it will turn up here in Florida!
