Lens Pets

I did not come up with this idea. My sister Tiffany, who is a photographer, sent me a link to an etsy shop. I thought they were so adorable and it was such a great idea. They pretty much are scrunchies that fit onto your camera lens. Along with being cute they ensure you get great pictures of your children looking right into the camera. My sister's birthday is coming up so I asked her if she wanted some. As much as I love the ones on the etsy shop I just couldn't fork out that much money for them. I love you Tiff...but not that much. So I took matters into my own hands and made my own. This was my first time working with felt. It was a lot of fun. Check out how they turned out. (Sorry Tiff if you see this before your b-day...I am too excited to wait to post this).

The one on the left is a train and the one on the right is a bird. It was supposed to be an owl and that is what Austin thinks it looks like but I'm not so sure. Owl or not it turned out cute and that is what I was going for.

The train was the first one I made so some of the pieces were hot glued together and some were sewn. The bird I just sewed all the pieces together. I couldn't find scrunchies in the store so I just made my own out of fleece and felt. Here is what you will need if you want to make your own.
  • 6 x 20 inch piece of fabric for the scrunchies part
  • 10 inch elastic. Mine was 3/4 of an inch wide
  • matching thread
  • needle
  • felt in different colors. I just bought the felt in individual sheets at Joanns.
Everyone in my family loved my lens pets. Even my cat....

If you are thinking this could be considered cruelty to animals she had it coming. She kept laying on my felt so I had to keep lint rolling it. And look how happy she is!

If you end up making a lens pet please send me a picture. briellekennington @ gmail . com
